Islamic Parenting: Children Are a Trust From Allah

In this week’s khutbah, Brother Ahmed spoke about the sacred trust of raising children and the role parents play in shaping their character. He reminded us that obedience from a child is not demanded through fear or force, but nurtured through love, guidance, and example. When a home is filled with mercy, Qur’an, and the remembrance of Allah, it becomes easier for a child’s heart to incline toward goodness. Brother Ahmed emphasized that parents must first embody the values they wish to see in their children — honesty, patience, humility — for children learn more from what they see than from what they hear. The khutbah was a heartfelt reminder that parenting is an act of worship, and that by creating a home rooted in faith and compassion, we raise children who obey not only their parents, but more importantly, their Creator.
