Masculinity According to Islam: Courage, Compassion, and Character

In this week’s khutbah, Brother Ibrahim addressed a misunderstood and often unspoken topic — what it truly means to be a man in Islam. He reminded us that masculinity is not about arrogance, harshness, or pretending to be unbreakable. True masculinity is strength with mercy, leadership with humility, and courage with compassion. The Prophet ﷺ, the best of men, was brave in battle yet gentle with his family, firm in principles yet open in expressing emotion. Brother Ibrahim urged the brothers to step up — to be protectors, providers, and role models — but also to understand that showing emotion is not weakness, it is part of being human. The khutbah was a call to embrace a balanced masculinity, one rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah, where strength and softness work together to create a man of honor.
