Our Need for Allah Every In Every Moment

Sheikh Salahadin reflects on our constant need for Allah in every circumstance, reminding the congregation never to question or resent His decree the way a king once cursed Allah for his loss. This khutbah encourages gratitude for Allah's countless blessings, firm trust in His will, and taking practical means while depending on Him.

Sheikh Salahadin opens by establishing that our relationship with Allah matters in every stage and condition of life, young or old, rich or poor, strong or weak, pointing to the examples of Prophet Ayyub and Prophet Yunus, who never abandoned their reliance on Allah through severe hardship. He reminds the congregation never to lose hope regardless of sickness, poverty, or diagnosis, since every past difficulty was eventually resolved one way or another, and uses the simple blessing of water to illustrate how dependent we are on Allah for even the most basic elements of life.

He warns sternly against resenting or cursing Allah's decree, recounting the story of a tyrant king who, after losing six children to lightning, forced his people to curse Allah and was ultimately destroyed by a flood turned to fire. Sheikh Salahadin draws a comparison to how challenging a judge's authority can worsen one's sentence, stressing that no one has standing to object to the will of Allah, who alone possesses complete and perfect knowledge of the past, present, and future. He reminds the congregation that wealth and power offer no immunity from hardship or death, even for a minister of defense surrounded by armies and cameras, and that the fear of Allah is the only fear a believer should carry, since it is what makes a person unshakeable.

He closes by affirming the Islamic belief in predestination, that nothing can happen without Allah's will and nothing can be stopped once He wills it, while clarifying that this trust does not excuse neglecting practical responsibility, such as taking medicine or securing one's property. The practical takeaway he leaves the congregation with is to recognize Allah's power in every circumstance, to remain grateful rather than resentful through trials, to take the necessary means while still depending on Allah, and to fight greed and injustice, including the suffering of oppressed peoples like the Palestinians, by sharing and easing hardship for others.
